Curriculum
The West Chester University Physician Assistant Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The curriculum is carefully designed to ensure that students develop the necessary competencies required of a physician assistant, including clinical skills, critical thinking, and professionalism.
Didactic Phase
The didactic phase of the program provides students with a strong foundation in basic medical sciences, pharmacology, and clinical skills. Students attend lectures, participate in small group discussions, and engage in hands-on laboratory sessions. They learn about anatomy, physiology, pathology, and other fundamental medical concepts that form the basis of their clinical practice.
During this phase, students also learn about healthcare ethics, cultural competency, and patient communication skills. These topics are essential for providing compassionate and patient-centered care, as physician assistants often work closely with diverse populations with varying healthcare needs.
