Varied Clinical Settings
Walsh University FNP students have the opportunity to experience diverse clinical settings during their rotations. This exposure allows them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system and the various roles and responsibilities of nurse practitioners. Students may rotate through settings such as primary care clinics, where they can focus on preventive care and health promotion, or hospitals, where they can gain experience in acute care management. Specialty practices, such as pediatrics or geriatrics, may also be included to provide a well-rounded clinical education.
Preceptorship Experience
During their clinical rotations, Walsh University FNP students are paired with experienced preceptors who guide and mentor them throughout their clinical experiences. These preceptors are seasoned nurse practitioners or other healthcare professionals who provide hands-on supervision and support. The preceptorship experience allows students to observe and participate in patient care, develop clinical skills, and gain confidence in their abilities. The guidance and mentorship provided by preceptors are invaluable in shaping students into competent and compassionate nurse practitioners.
Interprofessional Collaboration
The Walsh University FNP program emphasizes the importance of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with students from other healthcare disciplines, such as pharmacy, physical therapy, and social work.
