Supervised Learning
During their clinical rotations, students are supervised by experienced nurses who serve as preceptors. These preceptors provide guidance and support to students as they navigate the clinical environment, ensuring that they are providing safe and competent care to patients. Preceptors also serve as role models, demonstrating professional behaviors and ethical nursing practice.
Through the guidance of preceptors, students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in real healthcare situations. They learn how to prioritize patient needs, communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, and make sound clinical judgments. The supervised learning experience allows students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing them for the realities of the nursing profession.
Research Opportunities
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Nursing Program is committed to advancing nursing knowledge through research.
