Internships
As part of the program, students will be required to complete internships in various pharmacy settings, such as hospitals, community pharmacies, or long-term care facilities. These internships provide invaluable hands-on experience and allow students to observe and participate in the day-to-day operations of a pharmacy. Under the supervision of preceptors, students will have the opportunity to interact with patients, dispense medications, and assist with medication management.
Externships
In addition to internships, students may have the option to participate in externship programs. These programs allow students to gain experience in specialized pharmacy settings, such as compounding pharmacies, research institutions, or specialty clinics. Externships offer a unique opportunity for students to explore specific areas of interest within the field of pharmacy.
Clinical Rotations
Clinical rotations provide students with the chance to work alongside healthcare professionals in a hospital or clinical setting. During these rotations, students will have the opportunity to observe patient care, participate in medication reconciliation, and collaborate with other members of the healthcare team. This experience enhances students’ understanding of the role of a pharmacy technician within a larger healthcare setting.
