The program begins with foundational courses that lay the groundwork for advanced study in social work. Advanced Research Methods
Research is a critical component of the University of Buffalo DSW program. Students are exposed to advanced research methods and techniques, enabling them to design and conduct high-quality research studies. Courses in this area cover topics such as quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, program evaluation, and research ethics.
Clinical Practice and Interventions
The program places a strong emphasis on advanced clinical practice, equipping students with the skills to provide evidence-based interventions to individuals, families, and communities. Courses in this area cover topics such as advanced counseling techniques, diagnostic assessment, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence.
