Clinical Medicine
As students progress through the program, they transition from the basic sciences to clinical medicine. In this phase of the curriculum, students learn to apply their knowledge to the diagnosis and management of various medical conditions. They study different specialties, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and emergency medicine.
Through case-based learning, simulated patient encounters, and clinical preceptorships, students develop the clinical reasoning and decision-making skills necessary for providing comprehensive patient care. They learn to perform physical examinations, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans under the guidance of experienced faculty and healthcare professionals.
Professional Development
In addition to the medical and clinical aspects, Touro University’s PA program places a strong emphasis on professional development. Students learn about ethical and legal principles in healthcare, effective communication with patients and colleagues, and the importance of continuous learning and professional growth.
