Empathy and Cultural Sensitivity
The program also focuses on cultivating empathy and cultural sensitivity among students. Radiologic technologists often work with patients who may be experiencing pain, anxiety, or fear. Understanding and empathizing with their emotions is essential for providing exceptional patient care.
Students learn to approach each patient with empathy, compassion, and respect. They are trained to recognize and respond to the unique needs and concerns of diverse patient populations, considering factors such as age, gender, cultural background, and medical history. By promoting cultural sensitivity, the program ensures that graduates can deliver patient-centered care that respects the dignity and individuality of each patient.
Professional Certifications and Licensure
Upon successful completion of the St. John’s University Radiologic Technology Program, students are eligible to sit for the national certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This certification is recognized nationwide and is a requirement for many employers.
