Focus Areas
The MSW program offers several focus areas for students to specialize in, including Clinical Social Work, School Social Work, and Community Organizing. Each focus area provides students with a unique set of skills and knowledge to address specific social work challenges.
Clinical Social Work
The Clinical Social Work focus area prepares students to provide therapeutic interventions and support to individuals, families, and groups. Students learn various counseling techniques, assessment methods, and ethical considerations in clinical practice. They also gain practical experience through internships and supervised fieldwork.
School Social Work
The School Social Work focus area focuses on the unique needs of students in educational settings. Students in this specialization learn how to support students’ social-emotional well-being, facilitate conflict resolution, and collaborate with teachers and administrators to create a positive learning environment. They also gain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to school social work.
