Hearing
If your reconsideration is denied, you can request a hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ). At the hearing, you can present evidence and testimony to support your claim. The ALJ will issue a decision based on the evidence presented.
Appeals Council Review
If you disagree with the ALJ’s decision, you can request a review by the Appeals Council. The Appeals Council will review the case and decide whether to grant or deny your request for benefits.
Federal Court Review
If the Appeals Council denies your request for benefits, you can file a lawsuit in federal court. Federal court review is the final level of appeal for SSA benefits.
