Maintain the confidentiality of the applicant’s information. Do not share the recommendation letter with anyone other than the intended recipient without the applicant’s explicit consent.
Avoiding Bias
Be aware of your own biases and strive to write a letter that is free from prejudice or discrimination. Consider the applicant’s background, experiences, and perspectives, and avoid making assumptions based on stereotypes or preconceived notions.
Conflicts of Interest
If you have a personal or professional relationship with the applicant that could influence your judgment, disclose this potential conflict of interest to the scholarship committee. In some cases, it may be advisable to decline to write the letter.
