Field Placement Experiences
In addition to internships, Lamar University’s MPH program also offers field placement experiences that allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world public health setting. Field placements provide students with the opportunity to work on specific projects under the guidance of a preceptor, who is an experienced public health professional.
Field placement experiences may involve conducting community needs assessments, developing health education materials, implementing health promotion interventions, or assisting with policy development. These experiences allow students to gain practical skills, develop professional networks, and make a tangible impact on the health and well-being of communities.
By actively engaging in internships and field placements, students not only enhance their practical skills but also have the opportunity to explore different areas of public health and gain a better understanding of their career interests and goals.
