Early Clinical Exposure
Gannon University Florida believes in the importance of early exposure to clinical settings to help students contextualize their classroom learning. The PA program provides opportunities for students to observe and assist healthcare professionals in various specialties from the early stages of their education. This exposure allows students to witness different aspects of patient care and begin to develop their clinical skills under the supervision of experienced clinicians.
Clinical Rotations
As students progress through the program, they engage in clinical rotations, where they spend time working alongside healthcare professionals in different specialties. These rotations typically cover areas such as internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, emergency medicine, and family medicine. The program’s partnerships with local hospitals and healthcare facilities ensure that students have access to a wide range of clinical experiences, enabling them to develop a comprehensive understanding of different medical specialties and patient populations.
Interprofessional Collaboration
Gannon University Florida recognizes the importance of teamwork and collaboration in healthcare. During their clinical experiences, PA students have the opportunity to work alongside professionals from various healthcare disciplines, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and physical therapists. This interprofessional collaboration not only enhances the quality of patient care but also prepares students for the collaborative nature of healthcare delivery. Students learn to communicate effectively, respect diverse perspectives, and contribute to a multidisciplinary team approach to patient management.
