Long-Term Care Facilities
Long-term care facilities, such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers, offer students the opportunity to care for individuals with chronic illnesses and complex care needs. During these rotations, students learn about the management of chronic conditions, geriatric care, rehabilitation techniques, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in providing comprehensive care. Long-term care rotations provide students with valuable insights into the unique challenges and rewards of caring for older adults.
Community Health Centers
Community health centers play a vital role in promoting healthand providing primary care services to underserved populations. Clinical rotations at community health centers give students the opportunity to work with diverse populations, including individuals with limited access to healthcare. Students learn about health promotion, disease prevention, and the provision of holistic care in community settings. These rotations also emphasize the importance of cultural competence and understanding the social determinants of health.
Specialty Units
Eastern University’s Accelerated Nursing Program may also offer clinical rotations in specialty units, such as intensive care units, pediatric units, labor and delivery, and mental health settings. These rotations allow students to gain specialized knowledge and skills in caring for patients with specific healthcare needs. Students work closely with experienced nurses to provide comprehensive care and develop expertise in their chosen area of specialization.
Simulation Labs
In addition to clinical rotations, Eastern University’s program may incorporate simulation labs, which provide a controlled and realistic environment for students to practice nursing skills and scenarios. Simulation labs allow students to apply their knowledge and critical thinking abilities in a safe setting before transitioning to direct patient care. These labs often utilize high-fidelity mannequins and simulation technology to enhance the learning experience.
