Private Practices and Outpatient Clinics
Charles Drew University recognizes the importance of preparing students for the diverse practice settings they may encounter as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. As part of the program, students may have the opportunity to work in private practices and outpatient clinics.
In these settings, students learn to provide ongoing mental health care to individuals with a wide range of psychiatric conditions. They develop skills in psychotherapy, medication management, and long-term treatment planning. They also gain experience in collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers, to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for their patients.
