Through clinical rotations and clerkships, students have the opportunity to work alongside experienced physicians, observe patient care, and actively participate in the healthcare team. These hands-on experiences provide valuable insights into the daily responsibilities of healthcare professionals, the challenges of clinical practice, and the rewards of patient care.
Patient Care Opportunities
The BS MD Program emphasizes the importance of patient-centered care and provides students with ample opportunities to engage in patient care activities. Students have the chance to interact with patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, and participate in treatment discussions under the guidance of healthcare professionals.
These patient care experiences allow students to develop interpersonal skills, empathy, and professionalism. By working directly with patients, students learn to build rapport, communicate effectively, and address the physical and emotional needs of individuals seeking medical care. These experiences also provide students with a deeper understanding of the patient experience and the impact healthcare providers can have on patients’ lives.
