Students may have the opportunity to work in urban or rural settings, serving women from different socioeconomic backgrounds and cultural communities. This exposure helps students develop cultural competence, adaptability, and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by women in different healthcare settings.
Preceptorships
Throughout the program, students are paired with experienced nurse midwives who serve as their preceptors. Preceptorships offer a one-on-one learning experience, allowing students to observe and participate in the provision of midwifery care under the guidance of a seasoned professional.
Preceptors provide mentorship, share their expertise, and offer valuable feedback to help students refine their clinical skills. These relationships often continue beyond the program, serving as a professional network and a source of ongoing support and guidance.
